When not taking photos or planning to make films, Ali pursues his passion for cinema in writing on films in the form of reviews and film analysis. He has a deep and long passion for cinema history and cinema as an art form. He has studied film analysis with the great Iranian film critic, writer and scholar Hossein Moazezinia. And he further followed this journey by studying the works of David Bordwell, Kristine Thompson, Susan Sontag, Andre Bazin and many more.
Ali's writings have been published in both local magazines in Iran and on international sites such as FilmInk, No Film School, and Tastes of Cinema.  He then discovered Video essays as a great tool to analyse cinematic form and storytelling with analytical videos.  He started a YouTube channel dedicated to film analysis and criticism called 'Lessons from the Screen'. Videos made on this channel were featured on Film Ink, the prestigious Australian film magazine, and No Film School, the famous film news and media website.
